Brian McCarthy - Chief Executive
Brian McCarthy is the founder and Chief Executive of Brian McCarthy Contractors Ltd. and has overseen the growth and expansion of the Company since it's foundation in 1981. Brian graduated in Civil Engineering from University College Galway in 1973 and is a member of the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB). Brian is a past Chairman of the Mid West Branch of the Construction Industry Federation and has served as a committee member of the Branch for over 25 years.
Alan McCarthy - General Manager / Financial Director
Alan McCarthy is the General Manager and Financial Director. He is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and also a member of the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB). He has worked with Brian McCarthy Contractors Ltd since 1989 and has been involved in all facets of the business during this time but predominantly his role has been that of Financial Controller. He has introduced a number of the management and technological systems currently in place that have allowed the Company grow and expand over the years. Alan became Financial Director in 1994 and in March 2007 his responsibilities were expanded to include the role of General Manager.
John Connors - Construction Operations Director
John Connors is a member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (MRICS) and a member of the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB).
John joined the company as a Surveyor/Contracts Manager in 1989. As the company grew, his role broadened. He took charge of developing the company's Quality Management System (ISO 9000 registration achieved in 1997) and the company's Health & Safety Management System (obtaining Safe T Cert in 2008) and Environmental Management System. He has been a Director of the company since 1993 and Construction Operations Director since 1996.
John Cahill - Contracts Director
John Cahill qualified with a Diploma in Construction Management from Moylish College, Limerick in 1987. John joined Brian McCarthy Contractors Ltd. as Contracts Manager in 2002 and was subsequently promoted to Contracts Director in May 2005.
Prior to joining McCarthy Contractors John was a Contracts Manager with a Leinster based main contracting company for 4 years. John also previously held the positions of Contracts Manager and Site Manager with construction companies based in London.
Hugh McCarthy - Contracts Director
Hugh McCarthy qualified with a 1.1 honours degree in Civil Engineering from NUI, Galway in 2001. Hugh is a Chartered Engineer and a member of Engineers Ireland (CEng MIEI).
Prior to joining Brian McCarthy Contractors Ltd. Hugh worked for a UK based consulting engineering practice where he worked as a structural engineer on a variety of challenging projects. He also worked for a large building contractor on a combination of pharmaceutical, commercial,residential, leisure and retail projects. Hugh joined Brian McCarthy Contractors Ltd. in 2006 and in 2007 was promoted to the position of Contracts Director.
Pat O'Connor - Contracts Director
Pat O'Connor qualified with a Masters degree in Engineering Structures from Trinity College Dublin in 1987, having qualified with a Degree in Civil Engineering in 1986 from University College Cork. Pat is a Chartered Engineer and a member of Engineers Ireland (C Eng, MIEI).
Prior to joining Brian McCarthy Contractors Ltd. Pat worked for 7 years as a Contracts Manager with Leinster based main contracting firm and also previously worked for civil engineering and consulting engineering firms based in the UK. Pat joined Brian McCarthy Contractors Ltd in 2002 as a Contracts Manager. In 2005 Pat was promoted to the position of Contracts Director.
Kevin Smyth - Estimating Director
Kevin Smyth qualified with a Diploma in Building Management from Regional Technical College, Galway in 1984 and successfully completed the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors direct examinations in 1998. Kevin is a member of the Chartered Institute of Building (MCIOB).
Prior to joining Brian McCarthy Contractors Ltd Kevin worked for a London based building and civil engineering contractor. Kevin joined Brian McCarthy Contractors Ltd in 1994 as a Quantity Surveyor and in 1996 was appointed to the position of Estimator. In 1999 Kevin was promoted to the Board of Directors as Estimating Director.
Nollie McCarthy - Business Development Director
Nollie is Business Development Director with Brian McCarthy Contractors Ltd, managing marketing, social and business development aspects of the Company's growth.
