New Position - Estimator, London
We have recently expanded our operations into the UK and have a vacancy for an Estimator based in our London Office.
Brian McCarthy Contractors Ltd. are firmly established as one of Ireland’s foremost regionally based building contractors. Our operations cover a wide range of activities, principally in Main Contracting but also in Design / Build and Finance, Industrial, Commercial and Residential Developments.
The chosen candidate will have a very good knowledge of construction technology, and a keen commercial awareness.
The Role:
• Preparation of estimates for building projects up to £30m in value.
• Preparing and collating tenders to deadlines.
• Researching methods, suppliers, subcontractors and materials.
• Detailed and critical analysis of subcontractor and supplier quotations.
• Participating in tender adjudication meetings and pre-contract meetings re successful tenders.
Candidate Requirements
• Minimum of three years experience in an Estimating role with a main contractor.
• Self starter with the ability to work to tight deadlines.
• Computer literacy essential with reference to Causeway, Buildsoft, or other estimating software packages.
• Strong attention to detail.
• Team player with ability to interact with clients and colleagues at all levels.

Candidates should have a proven track record in construction management with 3 years minimum experience at the appropriate level. A technical or trades background is equally acceptable.
Site Managers
Candidates should have approx. 10 years experience in the supervision of medium to large building projects and a proven track record. A trade or technical background is equally acceptable.
Site Engineers
Candidates should have a proven track record in construction site engineering with 3 years minimum experience at the appropriate level, together with a relevant third level qualification.
Quantity Surveyors
Candidates should have a proven track record in Quantity Surveying with 3 years minimum experience at the appropriate level, together with a relevant third level qualification.
Estimators
Candidates should have a proven track record in Estimating with 3 years minimum experience at the appropriate level, together with a relevant third level qualification.
