RIAI Architecture Award 2010 for Best Public Building A high profile civic project that combined conservation with new build. The works consisted of the demolition of a number of existing structures, restoration and conservation of an existing stone building, construction of a new library, an area office, a Courthouse extension and an Energy Centre. The total single storey floor area is 1,639m², together with external works comprising of contaminated soil removal, hard and soft landscaping, ancillary site structures, foul and surface water drainage and site utilities. The building is located in Kilmallock town centre. The works were carried out for Limerick County Council and the building serves as one of their area offices and also a Courthouse and local library. |
